Shopify Plus Pricing in 2026: What It Really Costs and When to Upgrade

Key takeaways

  • Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a three-year term and $2,500 a month on a one-year term.
  • Very high-volume stores pay a variable platform fee — a percentage of sales with a monthly cap — instead of the flat fee.
  • The plan fee is rarely the biggest line: apps, development, payments and optimisation make up the real total.
  • Plus earns its keep through checkout customisation, advanced B2B, expansion stores, automation and lower gateway surcharges.
  • If the fees and workarounds you pay on Advanced already cost more than the difference, it is time to talk to Shopify.

Shopify Plus is the enterprise tier of Shopify, and “how much does Shopify Plus cost?” is one of the first questions growing brands ask. The headline number is simple; the total cost is not. This guide breaks down Shopify Plus pricing in 2026, what you get for it and how to decide whether it will pay for itself.

How much does Shopify Plus cost in 2026?

Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a three-year term or $2,500 a month on a one-year term. For comparison, Shopify Advanced — the top standard plan — costs $399 a month billed monthly, or $299 a month billed annually.

Plus is sold through Shopify's sales team rather than a checkout on the pricing page, so final terms depend on contract length, sales volume and business model. Treat the figures above as the starting point for that conversation.

The variable platform fee for high-volume stores

Once a store's monthly sales pass a certain level, the flat fee gives way to a variable platform fee: a small percentage of sales, capped each month. Shopify does not publish the threshold, the rate or the cap, and industry reports differ, so ask for all three in writing before you sign. For most brands moving up from Advanced, the flat fee is what applies.

What is included in Shopify Plus?

  • Checkout customisation: Checkout UI extensions on the information, shipping and payment steps, and custom Shopify Functions for discount, delivery and payment rules. Other plans can extend only the Thank you and Order status pages and use Functions from public apps.
  • Advanced B2B: Core B2B — company accounts, catalogues and payment terms — is on every plan since April 2026, but Plus removes the limit of three active B2B catalogues, assigns catalogues to specific companies and locations, and adds deposits and partial payments.
  • Expansion stores: Additional stores for new regions or brands, managed together under one organisation.
  • Automation: Launchpad schedules sales, product drops and theme changes to go live on time, alongside Shopify Flow for everyday workflows.
  • Team and scale: Unlimited staff accounts, higher API limits for integrations and priority access to Shopify's Plus support.

The costs around the plan fee

The subscription is only part of the budget. When we plan a Shopify Plus build, these lines usually decide the real total:

  • Payments: Card processing on Shopify Payments, or a surcharge on every order if you use another payment provider. On standard plans that surcharge is 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced; it is lower on Plus.
  • Apps: Reviews, search, loyalty, subscriptions and email. On a large store these can add up to more than the plan itself, so audit them before you upgrade.
  • Design and development: A theme build or rebuild, checkout extensions, Shopify Functions and integrations with ERP, PIM or 3PL systems.
  • Migration: Moving products, customers, orders and URLs — with redirects — from another platform or from a standard Shopify plan.
  • Ongoing optimisation: Speed, conversion and SEO work after launch, which is where most of the return comes from.

When is Shopify Plus worth it?

There is no single revenue figure at which Plus becomes the right choice. It is worth it when the plan removes costs or limits you already have. Three quick tests:

  1. The surcharge test: If you take payments through a third-party provider on Advanced, a 0.6% surcharge on $400,000 of monthly sales is $2,400 — more than the difference between the two plan fees. The lower surcharge on Plus can cover much of the upgrade on its own.
  2. The workaround test: Add up what you pay in apps, custom code and manual work to imitate features Plus includes, such as wholesale portals, checkout changes or extra stores. If it rivals the upgrade, the upgrade is cheaper.
  3. The roadmap test: If you are planning wholesale with many customer-specific price lists, new markets with their own stores or a checkout that needs custom logic, Plus is built for that roadmap.

If none of these apply, Advanced is usually better value, and the money is better spent on your theme, speed and marketing.

Shopify Plus vs Advanced at a glance

  • Price: Advanced: $399 a month ($299 billed annually). Plus: from $2,300 a month on a three-year term.
  • Checkout: Advanced: branding in the checkout editor and app extensions on Thank you and Order status pages. Plus: extensions and custom Functions across the whole checkout.
  • B2B: Advanced: core B2B with up to three active B2B catalogues. Plus: unlimited catalogues for specific companies and locations, plus deposits and partial payments.
  • Stores: Advanced: one store per plan. Plus: expansion stores included.
  • Staff: Advanced: up to 15 staff accounts. Plus: unlimited.

How to reduce your total Shopify Plus cost

  • Choose the three-year term if you are confident in the platform; it lowers the monthly fee.
  • Replace overlapping apps with built-in features and Shopify Functions before you upgrade.
  • Use Shopify Payments where you can to avoid gateway surcharges.
  • Budget for a proper migration once, rather than paying for fixes after launch.
  • Keep the theme lean: a faster store converts better, which is the cheapest growth there is.
